Emergency crews are still working to address widespread inundation triggered by the recent storm.
A significant emergency was declared in Monmouth, southeastern Wales, where residents were rescued or evacuated from flooded properties after heavy downpours on the weekend.
On Sunday morning, multiple major alerts, indicating a danger to life, remained active, alongside 41 flood warnings in England. River levels on the Monnow surpassed all-time highs, topping levels recorded during past storms.
Residences, commercial properties, transportation systems, and energy infrastructure all experienced damage from significant flooding in Welsh regions, officials confirmed.
Data indicated that approximately twenty homes and businesses in parts of England were flooded due to the storm, such as properties in the Cumbria region.
As Storm Claudia moves away, a sharp temperature drop is forecast to move across the UK, bringing freezing temperatures and possible wintry precipitation.
Saturday night, the UK experienced its coldest evening since spring, with temperatures plunging to -7C in Tulloch Bridge, Scotland.
A decline of approximately five degrees will shift above-average November readings to lower figures across most of the UK, with peak temperatures on Sunday reaching about 11C in the southeastern region before further cooling at the start of the week.
"While Storm Claudia moves south, atmospheric pressure to the north-west will bring a chilly Arctic air across the UK," a weather expert stated. "This results in significantly chillier conditions than lately, and, though mostly dry, there is also a potential of snow and ice. Frost across many areas are anticipated, with readings dipping as low as minus seven in some places next week, and daily maximums staying in single figures."
He added, "Combine this with a brisk northerly wind, and there will be a significant chill factor. This represents a significant shift after a extended period of unseasonable warmth."
Public health agencies have activated a cold weather alert for several English regions from Monday, while environmental agencies have warned that flooding may continue throughout the coming days.
The low-temperature warning is in place from 8am Monday until Friday morning, covering the East Midlands, western Midlands, North East, northwest, and Yorkshire region.
